Encyclopaedia of Maths and Mathematicians
This is a unique book, explaining loads of topics in as accessible fashion as can reasonably be expected. Don't expect to read it in 5 minutes and understand complex analysis or Mandelbrot sets instantly and you'll need sound mathematical background to get past the contents page, but recommended for those who have that. Lots of history and background, too, like an excellent section with mini-biographies of most relevant mathematicians.

The best of its type
The Autocourse/Motocourse/Rallycourse series is the best for their genre, that's why I collect them. I prefer bikes so Motocourse is my favourite. Always the best writing, photographs and results . There's lots of wannabes these days but Autocourse is the one I appreciate the most.
