A perfect send up of the movie business
A perfect send up by Christopher Guest, of the movie business in Hollywood, circa the nineties--Kevin Bacon stars as a student filmmaker whose student film wins first prize from an organization suspiciously similar to the AFI--A studio exec, played by J.T. Walsh, who is pitch perfect in an excruciatingly dead on portrayal, offers to make a film Bacon's character has written--The vicissitudes he undergoes are par for the course, the supporting actors are obviously having a grand time, including Martin Short who is unbilled, as an agent, and about as loopy as he can get! Jennifer Jason Lee also appears to be enjoying herself in the role of a zany artistic outlier--It's actually a heart-warmer in spite of the snarky cynical handling of Hollywood and well worth a look.

marvelous casting
A great cast doing fine ensemble acting--A simple story, an adventure into Manhattan looking for a wayward husband, pulled off with very engaging performances--A surprise solution to the mystery of the missing husband.
