Great torch for the price
I bought this torch for my girlfriend as we only had my similar LED Lenser P7 to use when geocaching at night.
The torch it self is physically bigger than the P7 mainly in length. was not expecting much from the Coast HP7 but was pleasantly surprised when we had both on side by side at night.
On fresh batteries in both The coast threw a brighter, whiter light than the Lenser, the adjustment for wide/narrow beam was a bit easier than the twist mechanism on the Lenser, however you don't need to lock the focus on the Lenser as it isn't as prone to movement. The lock on the coast always feels like something will break so we avoid it. I'm sure it won't though.
The one thing I'm not a huge fan of is the switch and modes. It is quite cumbersome and becomes slightly frustrating if you need to quickly turn the torch on, off and then on again with the rapid button press being the sequence to change between high, medium and low. Perhaps a long press to change would have been better? Not sure.
But for half the price of the P7 it is a fantastic torch. It's not as compact as the P7 but delivered in what mattered and that's the light department.
