Did Walter Cronkite snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?
There's a certain rawness to it that differentiates it from the many docs I've seen about the Vietnam War. I say this as a compliment as the war is described with the freshness and frankness of those who fought it on the ground, in the air and to a lesser extent on sea. Essentially, it is just a bunch of CBS news reports on the ground in Vietnam organized into various themes. Immense respect for the reporters and their cameramen who went into hot war zones to get the story. I especially want to single out Dan Rather as later in his career he became the butt of jokes by comedians, but during the war, he showed huge stones. I have a new respect for him. This is a fascinating series that can't help but enlarge your perspective, knowledge and understanding on the war. It is an excellent complement to the various outstanding docs about the war.

The Evening was Fair but the Album is Great
You won't be disappointed with any of the 12 songs on the album. The songs were well chosen and performed beautifully. Nanci and the Blue Moon Orchestra were in top form over the two evenings the album was recorded. It's a must-have album for every Nanci Griffith fan.
