Heartattack and Vine by Tom Waits
First let me confess i didn't buy a waits album until the excellent Alice and Blood Money (both recommended), played them once then put them away somewhere in my collection to gather dust. It was a while later that something made me seek them out (a tune in my head)and play them again, and again ect...Since then i have been hooked and i am currently on a mission to get all his back catalogue, i've never been disapointed. This is the thing with Tom Waits, he may seem hard work at first but give him a chance and you will be richly rewarded with lyrics/melodies that have no equal. So heartattack and vine? my latest waits purchase, well for me he can do no wrong and why not when he can create sublime songs like 'jersey girl' 'on the nickel' and 'ruby's arms' some of the standout tracks on this wonderfull album. All i can say is if you've never tried tom waits just give him a go with this album or one of his many excellent alternative's, you wont be disappointed and it could be the best thing you ever do. steff770
