HD 1080P HDMI WIFI Media Video Streamer for Google Chromecast 2 2nd Generation
01. Mai 2018
Confusing set up - can be made to work - just about
I guess the clue is the phrase "for Chromecast". I didn't get it when I bought it, but I understand now. It have a Chromecast and this thing works nothing like it. Firstly you have to set up a mini-Wifi access point. Non-techies would struggle with this concept of setting up a WiFi network within a home WiFi network. (The instructions that come in the box are very very poor in clarity and in minute print size.) Once this is done, you have to manually switch between Miracast and DLNA mode - it isn't clear when you would pick one over the other or why. I couldn't figure out the DLNA - I have a media server on my network and it never appeared. With Miracast, the Streamer will mirror the Android device I was using - but it did not "cast" through Apps. First you have to disconnect from the 'normal' WiFi and connect to the Streamer WiFi. When it connects you have to make your phone/tablet cast to the detected WiFi AP (the Streamer). If you are lucky it should connect and your screen should then be cast to your TV. Once that happens you should be able to see anything on your phone on the TV. It's not elegant but it does work and the lag/performance is not too bad.
