USB dongle failed.
Logitech three year warranty not worth the paper its written on. No warranty other than Paypal refund possible.
My opinion buy a different product than this... it has overrated reviews, bad quality build and reliabilty.

This means Apple headphones to all Android (Nokia standard) smartphone or tablets.

The other way round Android headphones to Apple items.
Mainly headphones these days say for ipod and this is the issue for Android users looking for a solution
Why noy use the old style 3 pole headphones. Yes they do work but volume will be low, less bass ans quality of sound issue will happen. This is because of the 4 poles in the female pair in your phone or tablet are getting in the way of your 3 pole; ie the long gnd on the 3 pole is connecting wrong in the 4 pole which is connecting mic and gnd lines together im your device.
Normally 3.5mm is 3 pole stereo audio LR and ground (gnd); now 4 pole uses another one for a mic. Then the pause play and + - pad uses an item called a resistor to alter the voltage on the mic (4th pole part with gnd) to tell your phone tablet your command.
Now this convertor adapter review after that explaination of the issue.
My findings is that this device does not convert 4 pole to 4 pole as said.
1) ipod compatable headphones into and android device without adapter gives. low volume no bass and only pause works in media players. Pause in youtube is inversed pause is always on, pressing pause makes it play and releasing pause makes it pause again.
2) as 1) but with this adapter; volume is the same. media players get a volume + command repeadly ie max volume setting always on to 30. Youtube is now working but pause does not work but no volume at all as command is volume - ie set now to zero due to volume - command from the 4 pole ipod or ipod compatable headphones
3) ok normal non mic 3 pole headphones to a 4 pole female jack on a android smartphone or tablet.. works... volume is correct, no sound quality issue, bass mid and treble ok (tested with frequency tests).
Conclusion. This adapter is a 4pole male (android) to 3pole female headphone adapter. It is not a 4pole to 4pole adapter. I have not tested on a Apple device as there is no point as 99% of 4pole headphones are wired up as 4pole ipod version (Apple/PC)(1L 2R 3M 4Gnd). Only the free ones supplied with your phone or tablet seem to be wired up as Nokia standard (android)(1L 2R 3GND 4M).
So this adapter is good and works if you want to connect 3.5 mm (or 6.3mm with adapter) old style no mic 3 pole headphones ie expensive ones or Walkman type headphones to an Android smartphone or tablet.
I have found no working solution as yet with a on the market adapter that allows opod or ipod compatable headphones to work with Android without issues. Most people are not realising they are missing the bass or volume. Alot of people are doing this also with a 3.5mm 3 pole to 3pole extension lead to their android smartphone to car radio aux point. I tell them you do realise you are missing the bass line and you have the car radio volume to the max as the volume line in is so low. Use this adapter and it will fix this problem too.

What it is used for -
For connecting 3.5mm 4 pole TRRS(Nokia) - ( 1L 2R 3M 4 Gnd ) ( Nokia Standard / ie all Android devices smartphones and tablets ) to normal old 3pole TRS(Walkman) (1L 2R 3Gnd) headphones with no mic. Can also be used for android smaetphone to your car radio aux input using a 3.5mm 3 pole to 3 pole extension lead as well as this adapter.
It is not 4pole TRRS(ipod/Apple standard); you need a Apple lightning to 3.5mm adapter instead.
Please note there are two TRRS standards that are confusing people.
1) Nokia standard (andriod devices)
2) Apple standard (ipod devices)
TRS means the old Walkman style 3 pole headphones and extension cables and aux inputs, ie and to two RCA phono inputs white red seen on hifis aad tvs, ie scart.
