A great underrated independent dark tragedy with an awesome Hi-Def transfer
Last Exit To Brooklyn is an underrated independent movie from the late 80s. It is about the dark side of the 1950s New York. The cast is fantastic and it follows the book by Hubert Selby Jr. reasonably well. They had to lighten it up a bit for the movie! Make no mistake this is a dark, violent tragedy of a flick. No one in Hollywood would dare make this, especially back in the late 1980s so some German filmmakers took a crack at it and did a great job. The rhythms and editing are definitely not what we are used to in the US but it works for this movie. Not for the faint of heart but worth checking out. And the blu-ray transfer is astounding.
