A waste of time
I purchased this film primarily because it was a Hallmark film and because of the well known actors starring in it. However, after watching it, I couldn't help but note how stilted the performances and dialogue were, as well as how disjointed the direction and editing was. Nothing about the film flowed smoothly nor did it move from one scene to the next with any sense of rhythm or style.
However, what really threw me and kept me from being able to immerse myself into the fantasy of it all, was that in the beginning of the film, Phillips said, during a narration, that he had just retired from the Army after having spent 25 years serving in it, just getting out after the Civil War ended. That would mean he was somewhere in his mid-40's. Yet by golly if he didn't look as if he was still 33 or 34 and fresh as a daisy. If he had just spent 25 years in the Army, and especially the last 5 in battle, he would at least look something more like Russell Crowe from "Gladiator", finally come home from his last victory for Rome. He should have been more down-trodden, weary, and old. Keach, his father, was at least 65 now, and should have looked much older than he appeared as well. So saying, in addition to everything else I mentioned, nothing seemed to be as it should have been in this film.

Nice thermos, lightweight and compact
Before tablets came around I used to carry a small bottle of water along with a number of books in a briefcase - I needed the water to take medicine at some during the day. Now my tablet has all the books I used to tote so that's all I carry. I used to use a whiskey flask but people got the wrong idea. Perfectly slimlined to carry in my suit coat.

Great, the best!
I have 2 of the complete plug-in Motorola 5.8 ghz phones and a single line cordless expansion phone, all of which I need and love in my home. I got them when they first came out and would not trade them for the world or upgrade them if offered new and improved items for free. Unfortunately, my expansion phone went on the fritz, even though my base for it was still ok, and lucky for me I found a seller on eBay who was selling just what I was looking for just when I was looking for it, and at a price I was not ashamed to pay. It is still working fine for a used item, and, yes, although these are getting harder and harder to find, I would much rather stick with this model phone than upgrade, because I really feel that the more improvements Corporations make on newer and better models, the less likely they are to go the distance. Take for example, our automobiles, refrigerators, cameras, mp3's, etc. I can't tell you how much more frequently I have had to throw out each newer piece I have purchased when the previous one died on me.
I'm not sure why I decided to but this model phone five years ago, but I'll give Motorola credit for coming up with a great item. Probably because it was sleek and handsome in design, and because the phone I was replacing was no longer available. But once owned, I really liked the simplicity of it's speed dial and the capacity of it's internal phone book as well.
Again, I can only say that this has always been a great working phone for me, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to buy a new phone for their house. Before they get the expansion phone however, they would need to get the main-line phone first to attach the expansion phone to by, I don't know, radio waves? But I would highly recommend either the expansion phone or the main-line phone in a heartbeat.
