Does not charge

Not the first time I've had to replace a cell phone battery and after a relatively hassle free replacement, I booted up the phone and noticed that the battery itself would just stay stuck at 0% while charging. Went back to open the phone to make sure all the ribbon cables were securely connected and still no dice. Put the old battery back in and surprise surprise it charges just fine with no faults. Don't know if I just got a faulty product but first impressions are not good.
