I ordered a Universal Hitch for my 1988 John Deere 180 that had a cross member flange that was starting to wallow out from the years.
He suggested the unit along with a bolstering piece of steel to mate the mounting steel block on the opposite side of the cross members flange; along with sending the unit without the mounting holes. All I needed to do was match up and tighten down the Hitch steel block; mark the holes that were already in place and then borrow a pals shop with press to bore out both hitch and bolstering steel block.
A little filing smooth; a little paint and steel bolts, washers and nuts.....the only way to lose that hitch with any of the items to be towed (the heaviest being a spoon type aerator drum with 50 gallons of water rolling up and down hills) would be to tear off the cross member.
It's a quick application for most of the universal drilling already in place; a very stout piece of work that will handle anything that the 180 will lug around. Well thought out and designed with a skilled hand in manufacturing this quality product. The rise from axle centerline is negligible and has no change on any of the tongue heights for any towing component.
It's the best choice to put a real hitch on your lawn tractor or ATV.
