Scottish murders with a supernatural twist
If you read James Oswald’s Inspector Maclean novels in order you’ll come to appreciate the way the characters interact, Tony Maclean battling inept senior officers whilst trying to progress difficult murder investigations with the help of a small but trusty team including his long-time colleague Grumpy Bob and seen-it-all pathologist, Angus Cadwallader. Dead Men’s Bones moves the story on - it’s Scottish police procedural with a hint of the supernatural, perhaps not the most accomplished in a very competitive area of literature but inventive and enjoyable nonetheless.
