Bringing back an old "friend" never came so cheap.
I have an Asian region PS3 Slim that finally conked out after 9 years of faithful service. It started being selective reading certain games, so it was time for a new laser.
Did my research and found out that not all lasers for the PS3 Slims are the same. This one was mine. It does not come with the module that slides the laser up and down, so I installed it on the one that came with my PS3. YouTube is your friend. I put everything back, and viola. PS3 back in comission. For the price I got this laser for, it's a great value proposition.
Do your research and install it yourself if you have a knack for taking things apart, and putting them back together. I did not need to solder anything. That said, if you haven't taken apart electronics before, this installation is not for you. Pony up the cash, and pay a pro to do it. There were a lot of times during my attempt at installing it that had I been lazy or inattentive, I would have bricked my PS3. So buyer be warned.
