A two disc set that is demonstration quality for 4K and HDR
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I had heard about this series for quite some time before purchasing it at a very fair price. My expectations were exceeded in every way. The series deals with the natural world in six segments, including Islands, Jungles, Deserts, Grasslands, Mountains and Cities. The flora and fauna in each region are photographed with a degree of clarity that is astounding. I have many 4K discs, and none of them even approaches this presentation in terms of resolution and the effective use of high dynamic range. As noted in Blu-Ray.com, for videophiles, this is the ultimate demonstration disc for showcasing 4K and HDR. Add to that the engaging and informative narration of Mr. Attenborough, and it is simply unbeatable. My only reservation was after six hours, the musical score tends to be a bit repetitive and episodic- not akin to the best of John Williams or Erich Wolfgang Korngold- a vey minor quibble, for sure. Don’t hesitate to consider buying this disc if you have an interest in nature and want the best possible source material to validate the effectiveness of 4K and HDR technology.

A very nicely designed shaving system.
After 20 years of use, my Norelco triple-header shaver finally ceased working, due to a failure of its power switch. On the basis of a recommendation from the New York Times “Wirecutter” column, I bought this Braun product. As expected, it has beautiful construction quality, and gives a very close shave. Having never had a shaver with a cleaning system, I was intrigued by the automated activity going on in that device, which was purchased as part of the package.
My only criticism is that the enclosed instructions have virtually no text, but only pictographs, which can be somewhat difficult to decipher. Eventually, I was able to figure out the setup and use of both the shaver and its cleaning apparatus. I look forward to extended life of this product, as the cleaning machine also performs lubrication of the actual shaving blade.

A movie that has few equals
This is an extraordinary movie, but it requires the viewer to actively engage with it. By that I mean that the narrative, as is typical of Mr. Malick’s movie, does not proceed in a typical linear fashion, with numerous flashbacks. Also, Mr. Malick tells his stories largely through amazing images and sound, with sparse dialog. However, once you become accustomed to this means of storytelling, you will see a movie that has few equals. If you have never seen a Malick movie before, it might be best to start with “Days of Heaven,” from 1978, which is an easier story to follow, but has all of the great Malick film characteristics of superb cinematography and little dialog. The extended version, available only on this Criterion release, is worth seeing, as it has important plot elements trimmed from the theatrical version. Mr. Malick provides a film that engages the viewer, and presents issues which were praised by the clergy, as well as film critics. As always, Criterion, in conjunction with the cinematographer and director, presents a faultless Blu Ray transfer. Highly recommended.
