As good as current models at half the price!
I'm ~10 handicap, and I cant see/feel any advantage to the current model tour-level balls. The only issue I've had with them is the durability of the thin cover - you probably wont get through 2 full rounds without the covers getting scratched up even from wedge play (not counting trees/cart paths). Luckily, I'll usually lose the ball before it ever gets to retirement stage. If you can find these (as well as the Tour i and Tour iZ) new-in-box for half the price of the current models, why not play these?

Classic Callaway golf balls
For me, the Tour iS and Tour i(s) are Callaway's best ball prior to the Chrome Soft series. Excellent spin and control without sacrificing distance. Since I still play the X-18 irons, these classics are a good chronological fit, and when you find them "new in box" they are often 1/2 the price of current balls.
