A great disappointment
0 von 1 finden das hilfreich I bought this because I adore Richare Burton. He was indeed a fine actor, had great presence, a beautiful face and a voice to die for. Listening to him reading poetry is sheer escapism, hypnotic and beautiful. But seeing Burton on this DVD was very sad. His body ravaged with drink and painkillers it was obvious that the man was in great discomfort. He looked tired, worn out, drained, and the whole thing was an effort. I have no idea why he was chosen for this role, he deserves better. Tatum's performance was bland, like performing in a school play, I have seen her in greater roles. The quality of the film was dreadful, almost as if it were a copy. I was totally disappointed in this film, not something I would bother watching again.

You're Smarter Than You Look by Judy Sheindlin(2001)
For anyone that is a Judge Judy fan, this is a great little book, which can be polished of in two nights, as it is very light reading, or perhaps on a flight when something light is appropriate. It covers numerous topics about exes, es-in-laws, merged famlies, stepchildren, friends from previous marriages, and relationships, even pets. From the decision to marry to writing a will, Judge Judy tackles all the relationship issues that drive people crazy and sometimes to court. This lady married Jerry Sheindlin, a former justice of the Supreme Court of New York and they live in New York City. As a Judge this lady can sort out any situation and I feel is very fair, but as a Mother I personally find her a very no nonsense, detached and a little cold. What is it with parents, when they expect their children, once reaching a certain age to move out? I have no desire to hang on my children, but I can see how much they can save financially if living at home as long as they are respectful. I have intention to change my house to a mainsonette, so that my son can have his space, his friends, and his privacy without having concern whether its disturbing me. Judge Judy and her husband actually moved out till the children got the hint and moved out.
Still its great reading and easy to understand.

1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I FIRST HEARD ONE TRACK OF THIS CD, AND AS I AM RATHER IMPULSIVE BY NATURE BOUGHT IT IMMEDIATELY EXPECTING THE REST OF THE CD TO BE A DISAPPOINTMENT AS HAS BEEN THE CASE MANY TIMES BEFORE. THIS WAS DIFFERENT, AS ITS THE TYPE OF BEAUTIFUL MUSIC THAT YOU CAN LISTEN TO IN ANY SITUATION. AS A AROMATHERPIST, I PLAY IT AS BACKGROUND MUSIC, IT IS LOVELY AS QUIET DINNER MUSIC, MUSIC TO SIT AND JUST LISTEN TO WHEN YOU ARE IN YOUR OWN SPACE, AND ALSO IT HAS A SOFT AND GENTLY ROMANTIC FEEL THAT APPEALS TO ALL, SONG AFTER SONG. I HAVE SINCE GIVEN IT AS A GIFT TO A FRIEND WHO IS GOING THROUGH A BAD TIME, KNOWING THAT THE HAUNTING, SOUL TOUCHING SOUNDS CAN BE VERY THERAPUTIC TO A SAD HEART.
