Beautiful Lies
Beautiful Lies - by Lisa Unger. A fascinating mystery/thriller/romance about denial and the insidiousness of lies and the lengths some people will go to protect them. Ridley Jones, a NY free-lance writer has her 15 min. of fame when she saves a child’s life. But her face on the news turns her world upside down. Opening her mail, she’s shocked by a very old photo of a child with a woman who looks just like her, a phone number and a note,“Are you my daughter?” She discovers her past isn’t what she thought and no one she knows is who they seem to be.
*I picked this book from the “new books” section of the library just because of it’s “puzzling” cover. I didn’t even read the fly leaf. A few days later I started to thumb through it while eating dinner..... and read it straight through to the end! I couldn’t put it down. It's riviting. I had to get my own copy so I could read it again. My sister also bought it at my prompting and she couldn't put it down either. It was voted into the top 50 books and one of the top ten thrillers of 2006 by the editors of amazon.com. A discussion group is on her web site: www.lisaunger.com. Bright and beautiful fabric
I wanted to make my adult granddaughter something for her birthday. My son suggested a tea cozy ( she’s a great fan of tea and tea shops) The fabric has a lovely feel and the colors are bright and beautiful. This Van Gogh “Starry Night” fabric will make a unique cozy.

Red and Outrageous Hats

The forward, by EQM Sue Ellen(founder of the Red Hat Society,)has a photo of her in her first red fedora taken at the first Red Hat Society Tea in 1998. Following pix of her show a progression of taller, bigger, and outrageous hats. The all-color,127 page, oversize paperback book is full of beautiful photos of ladies in the most spectacular hats. Most are a full page with accompanying stories or comments; and some have directions for making similar hats. There are ascot type hats, touring hats, visors, bra-hats, lampshade hats, top hats, tea party hats and many, many more. It’s also a treat to see the variety of purple outfits and accessories on the models. The creativity is awesome and inspiring. I highly recommend this book.
