Absurdly inexpensive for what you get
I have been installing Baldwin door knobs and handlesets for many years. They never have had the cheap feel of Kwiksets or Schlage - even though the same company now owns all of them. And I really loved the ones forged and made in the U.S. But those days are gone and these all are made in China. That said, they still feel so substantial in your hand and in their motion and latching. I can see and feel minor differences from the older ones, but for the money you cannot find a better door latch.
I did find in rekeying the last six I purchased that if I snugged down the notched collar on the back of the keyway the key did not turn well at all and caught and refused to release. But in moving the collar one notch back they worked perfectly. The price is just kind of silly compared to others on the market. I wish I could get my wife to use these on rentals, but since these have a Schlage keyway and she always has used Kwikset she refuses. Oh well.
