Superb Media Player
I bought this phone mainly for the sony walkman mp3 player and the built in stereo loudspeakers which are both superb, the speakers are obviously very small and should not be compared in any way with a full size hi fi system but for personel use listening to mp3s, the radio or video playback they sound superb for thier size, the double base setting is best when listening via the speakers. The mp3 player is one of the last true sony walkman players fitted to sony ericsson phones (the new generation of sony ericssons i.e. the `Live with Walkman` allthough implying it has a sony walkman is actually fitted with a sony ericsson android player which is not in the same class as a true sony walkman!)and with the supplied headset sounds superb, the equaliser has several pre-sets but taking the time to adjust the manual setting pays dividends!! The mp3 player on this phone will sound as good as the quality of the mp3 you put on it allows, use at least 192 per track on mp3, it will also take aac files. Java2.0 means this phone can use many of the free java apps on the net including ebook readers, chess computers, language courses etc plus loads of free 3d games.
The radio is good and sounds good. The camers is the weakest link on this phone, works well but not of high enough quality and no flash. mp4 player is good and the screen very clear with superb sound from the speakers. As far as the phone goes i have never used it as a phone as i bought it as a media player. WARNING..... I bought this phone as a replacemnt for one i had stolen which was locked to virgin, before finding this one on virgin i tried 2 from tesco on orange they sounded terrible and did not compare with the phone i first had, apparently certain networks own software affects the performance, virgin ones are fine, orange are terrible i don`t know about other networks i would assume factory unlocked ones will also be ok.
