Fatal Fury Special - SNES
Other than Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and MK2, Fatal Fury Special is one of the best fighting games on the SNES. I even think it's even better than Killer Instinct, which is also a great fighting game. People talk about the duel plains of fighting, which is cool, but I think it's just the way the game feels and responds. Hard to explain, but it's sort of a fighting game that you can just pick up and play, and the hit detection seems perfect, similar to SSF2T. The only gripe i have with the game is that the characters/computer can be a bit cheap. Each character in the game has attributes different than others, making it easier to beat some opponents, or much more difficult to beat other opponents. When you come to an opponent who significantly outmatches you, that's when you need to really learn your players moves to win. You can always switch characters, but like all fighting games the computer will usually adjust the opponent to increase the difficulty. Final thoughts - Fatal Fury Special is a knock-off SSF2T, but it does it so well and is definitely a game to pick-up if you like fighting games or want to try something new but familiar.
