Thank goodness for Dundas
On returning to model railways after 40 years away I decided on OO9 because of lack of space and, particularly, because I love the prototype after holidays in North Wales over several years. I'm amazed at the huge range of items available now, but gosh; prices ain't cheap, are they? £150 for a loco. £30 for a tiny bug box. I solved the loco situation with 3D bodies, and chassis from Japan, and halved the price of coaches and wagons when I discovered Dundas. All those that I've seen so far are very well detailed and cleanly moulded. Parts locate well and accurately and make up into a very nice addition to the layout. Despite my enthusiasm for them I've only given 4 stars because there are shortcomings. The particular one in this review seems a little narrow, scaling up to 5ft 8ins when similar full size ones I've measured are at least 6ft. Instructions are very basic and leave some doubt about the correct positions of parts so don't expect Tamiya simplicity of assembly. Nevertheless, thank goodness for Dundas. Their kits are a godsend to the more impecunious modeller like myself.

Expensive.
I needed a cart horse and this was the only one I could find. It's maybe a bit skinny for my taste, and some of the moulding is crude although those bits are hidden underneath. But the price! Good grief! Six quid, even free post, for a tiny bit of plastic seems very poor value for money. On the other hand, I suppose someone had to carve it, and I couldn't have. And as a recent returnee to railway modelling I'm finding that most things are eye-weteringly expensive. So, if you need a cart horse, here ya go. It's okay.

Totally useless as a fan, but you get a useful motor and a couple of batteries, which is all I wanted it for.
