If looking for an article with excellent photographs of Socotra, look elsewhere.
The low rating is specific for the photographs included in the article about Socotra. With the exception of two photographs, the photos could have been taken anywhere. They were so non descript as to specific geographic region that they looked like stock photos that anyone could pull off the internet and insert into any old article about the third world. They may as well have been AI generated.
As to the rest of this magazine, I couldn't say as I normally wouldn't buy such a magazine as I consider it trash. I was only interested in the article about Socotra and expected excellent photographs of Socotra such that one could not see anywhere else and would know at once the pictures could only have been taken on the Island of Socotra.
I could not recommend Condé Nast Traveller Uk Edition Magazine November 2023 Issue 297 if looking for an article with excellent photographs of Socotra, that couldn't have been taken anywhere else, and recommend to look elsewhere.

The introduction is about two pages long and is as informative as one can be in that brief amount of print. Rest of the book consists of catalog illustrations as per the aforementioned manufactures and years. Of the 271 pages there are approximately 30 - 40 pages in color.
The copyright on mine was 2001 so the prices the author has listed are not applicable to todays market for 1930's lighting fixtures.
