Best of Fractured Fairytales

Fractured Fairytales are wonderful cartoons from my childhood. These cartoons were part of the Rocky and Bullwinkle show. Although the graphics are rather basic, they are written smartly. These are some of the few cartoons my dad would get a chuckle from on Saturday morning. It wasn't until much later that I started to appreciate the humor that he saw in these cartoons. The premise of the shows were to take a well known fairytale and twist it a little, maybe put it in a more modern setting. With a liberal use of puns throughout, the tale would usually end with a growner of a punchline. As I stated earlier, graphics are basic but the writing is excellent. It seems as cartoons became better in the graphics department, the writing had dropped a bit or was aimed more at the younger person. Believe it or not, adults used to watch cartoons with the kids on Saturday morning. I'm glad the older cartoons are coming out on DVD now so us older folks can relive the magic of Saturday morning!
