A Magical Entertainer

The Sound of a MAGICAL WIZARD
Rhino Records did a beautiful job of enhancing the sonics of this classic 1939 soundtrack. Also, there are bits of choral numbers, transitional music, and dance material that were cut from the final print - and they are great to hear. And who can not be entranced by the magical performances of Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr, and the great Billie Burke? If only Margaret Hamilton had had a song!

NOW'S THE TIME FOR NOW'S THE TIME
For Orff devotees, this book's spin on how it relates to the American jazz tradition is exceptional. The book is rich with ideas and written in a wonderfully conversational prose. I can't wait to spend some more time with it over my spring break.
