Good level of challenge without being too hard or too easy.
Instead of doing needlework, my wife works these crosswords while we watch TV. They are easier to work if you tear the sheets out and use the book for a backer. She usually does 4 puzzles each evening. She loves the activity and it keeps both of us thinking about all sorts of things.

Edgy and funny.
This is a fun thing for a group at lunch. We Jeopardy experts are always stumped by the hilarious statements. An entertaining challenge.
