Even Better Than I Thought it Would Be
If you could take all the elements of the best 70's guitar rock/pop groups from the UK put them together....you'd have Badfinger. But Unicorn is damned good, too. The songwriting and the occasionally unusual arrangements are a nice surprise. Most comparisons are to country rock/folk rock....but this is not an imitation of Poco or the Eagles. Not by a long shot. When something is excellent comparison is difficult. That's what we have here. I am curious enough to seek out their other reissue on Esoteric Recordings, who do a uniformly great job.

New Art: Ars Nova
A very rare thing....an American prog band that's actually good! It's just really surprisingly interesting music in a variety of styles. Esoteric Recordings always do fine work with packaging and this two disc set is no letdown in that regard.
