yes, it is a cook book but....
there is a reasonable variety of recipes but far too many using lamb (expensive!) but biggest issue is the ingredients are in very small print and appear printed in grey ink which makes it hard to read. The tight binding means the book will not stay open at the desired page unless you fit a wide bulldog clip or weigh it down.
I found it too frustrating to use and have given it to a charity shop - best of luck.

overall
the very heavy ceramic dish cannot be used to sear meat which must be done in separate pan. my dish had several bits stuck on base which could easily scratch a work top and had to be cleaned off with a stone. the manual and carton state recipe book enclosed, but none found other than a single page at the back of the manual - hardly a "recipe book".
contacted supplier who said would check warehouse but no news. contacted VonShef direct, no response so purchased a book online. used once with good result
