Ancient Hawai'i by Herb Kawainui Kane
What a gorgeous book that succeeds in clearly explaining the origins of human settlement in the Hawaiian islands. My parents grew up in Hawai'i as part of the Japanese immigrant/farmworker community. I love Hawai'i for it's uniqueness - people, history, landscape, beauty and culture. It's a cherished privilege to visit such an amazing place. I think this is necessary reading for anybody who loves Hawai'i and wants to understand and appreciate it more deeply.

To Steal a Kingdom by Michael Dougherty
My parents grew up in Hawaii as part of the immigrant/farmworker community. I love Hawaii for it's uniqueness - people, history, landscape, beauty and culture. It's a cherished privilege to visit such an amazing place. I think this is necessary reading for anybody who loves Hawaii and wants to understand it more deeply.
