Breathtaking

Prior to reading this memoir, I have read Lauren's other two major production books: Mudhouse Sabbath and Real Sex. I adore her writing style! She's personal, conversational, and still smart with her writing.
Coming from a similar background (having to reconcile Judaism and Christianity in my life), I sympathize with her experiences and take delight in her fair way of handling such a deep issue as faith.
I highly recommend this book for a perspective on Judaism, Christianity, and life in general. Lauren is a winner. ;0)

Complicated
This textbook was required for an Asian American Psychology class I took. The reading was quite heavy to adjust to at first (and I've had a ton of PSYC classes), but you get used to it as the chapters go on.
Each chapter in this book is written by separate authors, so I found that chapters would often repeat themselves. This was beneficial in someways, in that it helped you remember and understanding the facts in a broader scale. I found it interesting when details didn't quite match up though. :0P
All in all, this textbook is pioneering an area of study that needs to be explored. For a class, it's a great resource. Anything beyond that and it's a little bit much.

Engaging!
I was required to read this book for an Asian American Psychology class that I took, but this book was by no means a bore. I discovered so much about myself through it! Paisley is an engaging writer who very eloquently describes her experiences in America and abroad. Through these experiences, she metes out what it means to be half Chinese and half European. Through frustration and joy, Paisley finds herself and the journey is well worth the read.
