All Gesso are not created the same!
Absolutely LOVE this for my Bible Journaling! Dries to a clear surface (because this is the CLEAR Gesso not the white, black, gray or other color...yeah, for some reason that took me a little bit to catch on to). This Gesso is not super sticky and my pages do not stick together after drying. It is smooth and does not have a "grainy" texture like bits of sand. I have prepared the whole surface (to include the words on the Bible) and it does not cause my words to smear or lift/erase from the page. I prepare both the left and right sides as well as the fronts and/or back sides of the page and after drying they do not stick together even during periods of high humidity (gotta love Kansas weather) or watercoloring opposite pages on different days. After applying from the inner side of the page flowing outwards I use my heat gun (not my hair dryer because my Bible pages are very thin and can burn easily if not careful-unfortunately learned this the hard way and did create a burn mark) and carefully dried my pages. They do crinkle up a little bit but will flatten out well after closing the Bible on itself for a few days. The biggest LOVE for me was knowing I can easily still read my Bible pages, even after using thinner paints, watercolors, most stamping that I use, etc and that the surface texture was smooth like the page after drying and didn't contain that "sand-like" or grainy feel. So glad I did my research on this product first. But make sure to purchase CLEAR Gesso and not a colored one...after all it's a lot easier to add a small amount of acrylic or watercolor paints to a CLEAR one that it is to have a colored one we now have to contend with for all of the various colored items we may want to use or blend! I hope this helps someone else since there were so many I used to help me!
