Very challenging, but full of flaws... damn Wii remote!
Like all Army Men installments, this one has a green(goodguys) and tan(badguys) conflict. What makes this different is that Tommy-the boy who owns the toys is involved in the game. You play as Tommy and rescue the green. Tommy is the same size as the toys(honey I shrunk the kids) and goes on several missions. What completely kills the game is the camera angles and control; the remote acts as a pointer for the crosshairs. because it is not natural to keep the remote in a position as a gun while moving around, the weapon is constantly pointed in useless directions, making Tommy an easy target (the fact that he cannot jump doesnt help either). The game is more of a mat and mouse with some items that need to be found. It is nothing like the previous Army Men titles. **3DO did not make this game. Not sure if it is an actual Army Men game** A plus is that the environments are great: the detail is very good-not like the older Army Men games that put all detail into backdrops that cannot be explored. THE GAME IS CHALLENGING. You will spend 20-30 minutes on levels and die and have to begin all over again. Be prepared to drop the occasional F-bomb because the enemies are well hidden and when you haveto start over again, it really sucks.
Probably the best selling point is that the game is inexpensive and will take a while to finish. But, while it is a value up front, the replay value is minimal. As far as a great comparison, Does anyone remember the Toy Commander for the DREAMCAST? Very similar-DC doesn't have the cutsie aspect though.

A must have for fighting game fans of all ages!!
3 von 4 finden das hilfreich Of all the fighting games that have been released, Mortal Kombat II for the Sega Saturn is the best choice. The game play is identical to the arcade and the controller enhances gameplay to the max. For those who have played the version for the SNES and Playstation, the comparison is like night and day:
Super Nintendo, as great a system as it is, does not have the capabilities to handle such gameplay. The processor simply can't keep up with the speed that the game demands.
Playstation is a great system, but the only reason why it surpassed the Saturn was name recognition. People simply gravitated toward the Sony name instead of Sega.
The only problem that may arise wile playing this game is its condition; I have owned many copies and unless it is nearly mint, gameplay will be affected.
Another area that must be looked at is the condition of the controllers; Because the gameplay is so fast, it is crucial tat the controllers that are being used work PERFECTLY. I have found that many of the Sega controllers, from the their Master System to the Dreamcast, were poorly made in that they were not durable. It is very common to come across a Saturn controller whose buttons do not work correctly. This will definately put a damper on gameplay.

Fantastic intro to shooter genre
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich For those who are on the fence about the shooter genre, this is the best series to use to get your feet wet. The Army Men series does a great job incorporating battle tactics using the first person viewpoint. What it also does is simplifies the game by making weapons and surroundings actual toys. The violence is implied rather than shown as well. Because everything is plastic, there is no blood. This is great for the younger players. Missions are simple and controls are learned quickly. Finally, the Army Men series is available on nearly every system : Dreamcast, ps1, ps2, N64, GBC, GBA, GC, and more. In short, the games are low risk, high reward, financially speaking. And most importantly, fun as well.
