Great device with some modifications

I enjoyed building this kit. Instructions were good and design allowed for modifications. I don't think it has a lot of practical use indoors and I wanted to build a case for it so I could use it outdoors. I solved mounting the microphones by installing terminal blocks to the board so I could easily remove and replace the mics. I retained the internal battery optionn but also added a 5V power connector so I could run it and a BT transmitter from a battery pack. This setup gives me many hours of use in an outdoor setting.

Not always the battery

I use 3600 series Ipaq's for Navigation computers on my sailboat. I prefer the 3600 because of the cost and better visibility in all lighting conditions. I have owned several of these and find that failure of the battery to charge is often not the battery but failure of the charge circut itself. Since I use them always plugged in the only problem is when they must be unplugged or lose power. A restore is required while plugged in to restore the needed programs. Thus I am always skeptical when the seller indicates his unit will work ok under power but the battery won't charge and it needs a new battery. Not always true.
