A short, hilarious, and surprisingly insightful book!
This book sounds like a joke and it starts off feeling like one, but it’s really deep and insightful. The whole thing is about a guy on an escalator, detailing how he feels and what he’s thinking about.
It gets REALLY deep when the narrator goes into meta-thoughts on what’s going on in his head. I don’t want to spoil anything. All I can say is the book is really insightful. It’s going to make you think about (1) what goes on your own head, (2) how often those thoughts are rendered in your head, and (3) why that stuff is going on inside your head.
It doesn’t hurt that the book is truly hilarious. A lot of people (including myself) do things without thinking about every intricate detail. When you dry your hands after washing them, you probably don’t think about the various drying options and their respective pros/cons. A lot of that is subconscious. The narrator breaks down these subconscious thoughts (which most people have probably had) into great detail and it’s hilarious.
This book cracked me up laughing at numerous points. I can almost promise you that in the 135 pages (it’s relatively short), you’ll find yourself laughing out loud at some point too.
