Top Quality Gear Cable Set.
These are suitable quality to fit to xt and xtr as advertised, but can also be used on road bikes.
The outer casing is constructed for axial stiffness to accurately and swiftly transmit movements. It is lined with a polymer sheath to reduce friction.
This set went on a bike I'm building for my daughter and hasn't been used yet, but I've got identical sets on two bikes and had no problems. There are cheaper cables available, but I use these every time.

Good value v-brake post studs.
You can buy more expensive alternatives made of exotic materials in order to shed a few grams, but you'd have to be obsessive to do so. If you have a retro frame missing brake studs I'd go for these every time.
