Plain writing, beautiful simple techniques to follow, exquisite quilts!
This is the first book I purchased about crazy quilting and still the one that I return to the most often. I share Judith Montano's philosophy about embellishment---only time or money puts a halt to it---so this is the perfect book for me!

Worth the read...
This series is one of the best Amish based which I have read. In fact, I almost did not read the first book of the trilogy because I do not agree with bishops having so much control over the people's lives, even to dictating how many pleats a lady should have in the skirt of her dress. I thought this would be more of the same and was delighted to discover these Amish think for themselves and sought a closer walk with Jesus than the average person.

This is an inspirational, uplifting little history of 150 songs.
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Having first seen this book at my local public library, I did not want to return it! I decided to buy my own copy immediately and promptly began searching for it. I was fortunate to discover it being offered by an eBay seller. This book is a source of inspiration as one is uplifted not only by the words of the hymns, but by the brief one page biography of the song writer. Emphasis is placed on the event in the life of the author of the hymn which guided him/her to pen the words which resound in so many of our hearts and minds, especially on Sunday mornings as we gather at our various churches. John Newton who wrote Amazing Grace, for example, was a slave trader and lived a life unrivaled by any fictional character. Fanny Crosby wrote many hymns---so many that her publisher insisted that she had to use a pseudonym as it was not proper for women to publish too frequently under their own names. Fanny Crosby was blind, but she worked tirelessly in the slums and rescue missions of Manhattan. It was while visiting with her wealthy friend Phoebe Knapp in Brooklyn that Fanny Crosby penned the words to Blessed Assurance, "Praising my Savior all the day long." As we sing these beautiful hymns, carols, and anthems of America (America, the Beautiful by Katherine Lee Batesis included in the book) each week at my church, I instinctively reflect on the little story I read about each in Then Sings My Soul and receive an added blessing. I can not imagine that you will not also be blessed by reading the history of these treasured hymns.
