Awesome wireless routers from Apple
I have been an Apple Airport user since I was little. The latest generation uses wireless ac speeds and 5ghz dual band connectivity. When properly installed and set up, a clear channel on 5ghz at ac speeds should give wireless gigabit Ethernet. Pretty cool. Do some reading on the subject if you want to tweak things, but anything Apple is great right outside of the box. I’m a fairly sophisticated user, so I appreciate the advanced settings that the airport utility offers. I have one AirPort Extreme that I use as my router and that I have an ethernet switch plugged into it along with my wired devices from around the house. I have another AirPort Extreme on the far side of the house that’s plugged in on this switch that I use to extend the excellent WiFi network using wired ethernet. My wireless devices automatically connect to and switch to and from the AirPort Extreme that has the stronger signal no matter where the devices are in the house. You can walk around with your iPhone or laptop and it will go to the AirPort Extreme with the stronger signal as you walk around. Intrigued? Apple has guides online as to how to set this up, but the AirPort utility detects this and prompts you as to whether this is what you’re doing with the second AirPort Extreme on the same network. Awesome products as always. They’re still current and get updates, but they’ve been discontinued by Apple. I hope Apple brings them back
