The radio that I was buying these IC's for is an 'XL' version, and not an 'e' like the schematic says. Anyway, quick service on getting these IC's, and they'll be used in a project, somewhere. Old tech from late 1970's that works, however, today there are newer options. Plus, this IC is getting harder to find.
Still through-hole tech that you can solder / desolder yourself. However, today this IC is considered obsolete for most tech, which is why Uniden probably stopped using this IC for Squelch control in their Pro510e and Pro520e CB's. Nice CB's indeed, but this is probably why Uniden dumped these models for the newer Pro505. I suspect that the Squelch control is different in that CB.
