Rediscovering!
It's been many, many years since I have seen this film. I purchased this with the memory of how much I loved this film when I originally viewed in the Theatre. And I was, once again, totally engaged with all of it: The script, the acting, (and the actors!) the cinematography, the direction, the film score! And I was surprised by what I did and did not remember from the original outing. Just saying, it was a total joy to rediscover, and now have this great film in my library. This new restoration is spectacular! And what a Christmas present of packaging with the postcards, and a fantastic booklet. And slipcover. Totally deluxe in every way!

1st Rate Restoration.
I love Hayley Mills. I was just young enough, living in a small USA town, that this film missed us; I was mostly limited to her Disney films and some of her films for Universal Pictures. So I came to this film in my 30's. And I have only grown to love and appreciate it more with each viewing as the decades fly by.
I never even got to own it or see it in it's correct screen aspect ratio until recently, however, with the release of the StudioCanal DVD, and even then, I had to purchase an all region player to see it, as it was not released in the USA. ...... And I thought that edition looked great, but I hadn't seen anything until this (2K? , 4K) restoration BluRay, and WHAT A TREAT!!! Like seeing it for the first time, so much detail to observe. It is a film with so much to admire about it: a great nuanced script. Great understated humor. Characters to dig into, terrific acting, cast, and surprises galore. So much more sophisticated a film for it's time than many of its contemporary American comedies. For my money, this film is a treasure! I am totally glad to have made the upgrade to this BluRay edition ... (with Sir Paul McCartney's first film score to boot!!!)
