Don’t overlook
Make allowances for a change in the timbre of Robert Plant’s voice and you’ll enjoy this album a lot. The magic and chemistry with Jimmy remains.

More quietly gorgeous music from Steve Kilbey
If you like The Church, or Steve Kilbey’s collaboration with Martin Kennedy or Frank Kearns, you will love these beautiful sounds.
How Steve Kilbey is not more widely recognised for his talents escapes me.
This time he creates with American Jeffrey Cain, who accompanied The Church for their live performances on the Man Woman Life Death Infinity tour. Mesmerising. Standout track: Old Black Spirit.

Essential!
If you already have a copy of this album, you’ll know how truly great it is. If you don’t, you need to hear it. The greatest debut album of all time, and quite possibly the greatest album ever. Raw, primal, devastating bluesy heavy rock. The 2014 reissues of the Zeppelin catalogue copped some criticism for their uninspiring companion disc content.
This one’s an exception: a wonderful performance from Paris in April 1969. Add in a nice booklet and an array of photos, and this one’s a keeper.
