Tried it and removed it.

Hornby point levers when switched firstly energises the motor before energising the switched position. In other words when it changes the point it discharges to the point motor then when you need the power to change the point, it is at it's weakest. You then have to give the point motor another pulse for the point / points to change. Would be great if you used the pointer system touching the contact to change the point. Pity, because it does what you say, but not in a way that works well with point levers. Cheers.
