Laminated Our Lady of Vladimir with gold highlights
I got one of these laminated holy cards at a local shrine, and when I went back to get more, they weren't carrying them any longer--replaced with another design. I was thrilled to find these on eBay, and they are less expensive than they were at the shrine. What doesn't show online is the gold metallic highlights that edge Our Lady's mantle, making this a truly beautiful piece. Also, this is the original of Our Lady of Vladimir, supposedly painted by St. Luke the Apostle. I don't know how true that story may be (many date her around 1000 AD or a little after), but she is my favorite.

Beautiful book with beautiful ideas
This is the third volume in Nicky Epstein's "Edge" series--Knitting On/Over/Beyond The Edge. These books, along with her Knitted Embellishments, give you beautiful little details to add to your knitted projects. If you are a knitter, you really do want these books. They go right next to your Treasuries by Barbara G. Walker, and you'll refer to them again and again.

MACHINE KNITTING ONLY!!!
This technique is interesting, and the book is respected, but I didn't realize it is for MACHINE KNITTING ONLY. I have a basic knitting machine, and decided to keep it on that basis, but I probably wouldn't have purchased it had I realized it wasn't for handknitting.
