DIY Digital LED 1Hz-50MHz Crystal Oscillator Frequency Counter Meter Tester Kit

Excellent, but warning to novices!

I bought an initial sample of this diy kit and couldn't make it work. I tested it with my signal generator and all it showed was a "0". I could browse the menu options, but that was all. I plugged in a crystal, and still the "0". I googled and soon found out it was I who had made the mistake. The input of the frequency counter cannot handle voltages of more than 5V. Yes, I had blown up the PIC! I order 2 more kits, plugged in a new PIC and started with testing crystals. Yes, that worked perfectly! The accuracy was impressive. For frequency measurements you NEED to use input protection! Google "Wolfgang Büscher, DL4YHF" and you will find all necessary data to make this kit into an excellent and price-worthy tool! Do not complain about the absence of information together with the kit, this is a true DIY kit, and all necessary information is out there!

Use them for prototypes and therefore is price more important than quality.

Excellent value for money

Easy to solder, excellent flow, but you need to learn to solder fast, while the solder easily creeps to the other side of the board forming a blob around the pin of the components. All in all I prefer these above all other types of prototype boards. I keep a good stock of them, just in case.
