Flutes en vacances is a cute French title for Flutes on Holiday. Its four short movements traverse a mini-kaleidoscope of delightful moods.

This finely crafted not-overly-long quartet for four flutes is challenging and playful enough to provide fun for both listeners and performers.

Mahler's Symphony 5 is here given a sumptuous performance by the L.A. Philharmonic. Plus, the recording is very good. What's not to like?

Excellent Stravinsky "Rite..." & Nielsen's Sym. 5 - w/o Brutality

Although neither is cut from exactly the same cloth, Stravinsky's Le sacre and Nielsen's 5th Symphony both possess moments of sensitive refinement and episodes of considerable savagery. The rough edges are not always overdone, here, but the orchestral execution and the sonics are top drawer!
