Masterpiece
This book covers discoveries at cellular detail of the retina. It still is the masterpiece in this field, and the highly recommended start for exploring the retina. Today we see deeper findings at electron-microscopic level, but they can be much better understood with the research described in this book.
It is the work of a lifetime of prof. Rodieck, covering an amazing deep breadth of cells, connections, functions, and even touches the many difficulties of higher levels of vision at LGN and cortical level.
Starting at the flux of photons on the retina, it steadily describes all different layers in the retina, from receptors to the large and functionally diverse families of bipolar cells, amacrine cells and ganglion cells.
This book is a must-have for any student (and researcher) studying the retina and vision.
