Great Buy, but do not use in a RAID
The time has now come for 8 terabyte drives to go mainstream. This means exceptional value for those using desktop PCs. You can not only use this drive to store movies and large video files, in addition to your archival backup. You can also store Windows Backup images to start your computer in event of a failure. A Windows image need only be updated when you actually install a new program (otherwise, for daily work, simply back up that daily work). This drive thus allows you the security of creating a large Backup image of Windows, and I have several computers imaged to this drive already. For the price, this is hard to beat. But remember, do not RAID this model, as it is suitable only for single drive installation, not within a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Drives). Knowing that, put one (or two!) of these in your desktop and you've got real capacity and freedom from limitation due to disk space. If you want a RAID with this capacity, you'll need to buy other models than this Archive model, each drive almost twice the price of this one, at the time of writing. That is telling, as to the value of this drive, and speaks to the sweet spot price point now.

This doesn't even break a sweat
Most power supplies have fans. This one does, too, but as it is a 1250 watt capacity, it isn't needed until about 600 watts are drawn. Then it quietly kicks in. Hard to imagine a better product for quiet power. Worth the higher price, The platinum efficiency denotes a very high economy of this supply. if you are living with a power supply running anywhere near you in a desktop. Zalman is a great brand name for this kind of stuff, borne out by this product.

Quiet and powerful
This beast barely breaks a sweat in normal use, and because the fan does not need to kick in, it is noiseless. Had it for over a year now, and it is reliable. While Gold rating is two down from highest efficiency, at this price point, for this amount of power, it is more than reasonable.
