An Oldie, but a Sound goodie..

Some people might see the information in this book as Out of Date (army surplus wool pants, modified wool sweaters and such): Still, the basic concepts are sound and still the root curriculum for NOLS courses Today.. The chapter on Avoiding Survival Situations is worth its weight in medical bills. Sections on Expedition Behavior and Leave No Trace camping (though that name was not developed yet)are just as valid and valuable - especially today with probably 4 x's the number of backcountry users!
