It is a good job that this Boomerang has ... come back!
Okay, I built this way back in 1978 'ish', when Airfix released it in the Blister Pack, and I then built it yet again recently in the White Box issue from the early 1990's I do believe, only to then discover Airfix were going to bring it out 'again' in the 'Vintage Classic's Line' with Roy's stirring artwork, if this doesn't get the creative juices going then ... nothing will, LOL!
Back in the day, I built it but it didn't come out of the 'Box Hanger' very often to be played with, this not a surprise for and like most nipper's back then other design's appealed, however, on revisiting the kit I discovered that it is a 'gem' with no vices, in fact, the only area where real care is required is when fitting the transparencies behind the cockpit, thus if a father has a 'nipper' who want's to break into the area of modelling then here be a good starter, or if you want to return to modelling and are into nostalgic kit building begin 'again' ... here!
Any youngster wanting to begin building model kits should visit these old classic's, build half a dozen or so before going onto the 'newbie's', the new one's can frustrate the 'greenhorn' and perhaps put them off forever, more patience is required with the new issue and as a lad or the beginner I didn't have much to call on, LOL!
As for the real aircraft, it was something of a small miracle, the project completed in quick time with perhaps as little as some 116 of the type being completed, with one pilot commenting that 'the problem with Boomerang's is that they come back', LOL, however, this was a tad unfair, the aircraft could compete with the Japanese 'opposition' and was never outclassed!
I have given this one the four star 'treatment', oh, and the modern day Modeller will no doubt complain, however, they know what they can go and do, LOL, the kit is worth 'three' with the Nostalgia 'add on effect's' adding the 'fourth', 'fer' me ... on 'this' one!
Well done ... Airfix!

Not to be missed!
Excellent atmospheric music with great nostalgic value, these sounds form the 1960's are, in my honest opinion, Charley's best, this including the likes of 'The day The World Stood Still' and 'Just Between You And Me'!
You can see why he is second only to the 'King' in terms of record sales!

Nice to see it ... again!
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich A 'blast from the past', the Airfix Fiat G 50 is a good memory for me from the 1970's, with Airfix recently having re-released it in the Vintage Classic's line, sure it isn't an up to date kit with issues for the modern day Modeller, however, if like me you be an Airfix 'junkie', then it fits the bill.
There is also the excellent artwork of Roy Cross being revisited, this served to excite as we all built during those days of the long ago late 1960's as well as 1970's!
