No Hiss, No Noise
I upgraded to the XM5s from the XM4s to see if there was any perceptible difference to the ears of someone who appreciates great sound and ANC, but is certainly not an audiophile. Short answer, there is! The noise cancelling is better than the XM4s plus the XM4 ANC "hiss" is gone. Big bonus! When you put these on in coach in an airplane it is almost miraculous the level of noise reduction when you activate ANC. I also believe the cans are a little more comfortable on my head. I'll be finding my XM4s a new home soon - the XM5s are a keeper, especially used in great condition!
