Old G&S stage productions
The G&S stage productions are 40 years old. Reasonable for occasional watching. They were first released on VHS about 1981 in the UK. If I remember correctly each operetta was costed at $80 each. I only bought a few of them at the time as $80 in 1981-2 was a lot of money.
The video quality as in keeping with the recording equipment that was available at the time is abysmal compared to relatively modern recordings.
That being said , it has some historical value. The Overtures are cut short which is a shame and well known actors of the time take leading parts in each operetta which have less than appealing singing voices. Most of the American actors used have woeful diction. The productions would have been served better if the D'oyly Carte operetta cast members had been retained for all parts.

Fault finding techniques.
1 von 2 finden das hilfreich I worked with these analogue meters in the RAAF mainly measuring audio amplitudes. You don't have the accuracy of digital but as long as you are within 2 or 3% there is no problem in servicing most equipment. The thing is to understand what you are viewing and apply it to fault finding reasoning. The young in this electronics game today have not the repair ability of the older generation who could and do repair down to component level with fault finding abilities that far out achieve the younger generation.
