Looks like the perfect filter, but a bit off in measurements.
I have used Purolator filters of different kinds over a number of years. Whether, it be the location in the ventilation cowling, or the filter itself I don't really know. It is more than a snug fit to get the filter to seat properly in the compartment where it is housed without causing the paper in the element to be a bit misformed.
I would have to try another vendors filter to see if the same problem exists. It is so close but just a bit too long in the horizontal measurement from what I can see. I put a small piece of duct tape on the right side outside lip of the element to the metal housing to keep it flush, & will go back in sometime to see how the filter is holding up.
This is on a 2012 Ford Escape, which never had a filter installed originally.

It does what it was designed to do.
Old vacuum, needed bags, found them on the internet. Will do for now.
